Eggs Benedict at NOTL

Eggs Benedict is a breakfast favorite. If the hollandaise sauce is light and delicate, they can be dreamy. Some of the best I’ve ever had are at an unexpected place: Niagara on the Lake Golf Club in Canada. They serve them with a choice of peameal bacon or smoked salmon. Peameal bacon, also known as Canadian bacon, is a type of pork back bacon that has been cured and rolled in cornmeal.

Our Niagara-on-the Lake (NOTL) B&B provides a certificate for breakfast there. We really like the place. Great views of Lake Ontario, the forts, and the golf course, which is the oldest golf course in North America and not stuffy at all. The restaurant has a friendly, welcoming staff and good food. They repainted the dining room recently.

We’ve been celebrating our anniversary at NOTL for the last three years and made reservations to go back again.
We stay at the Greenview Luxury B&B and enjoy the world class Shaw Festival plays. We can walk to everything. Also nearby is their wine country but since we are already spoiled with good wine here in the Finger Lakes and due to family connections in Napa we haven’t done much wine-tasting. What we really enjoy is the variety of good restaurants, especially ethnic food we can’t get at home. Indian at Aura, for example. The visitors for NOTL are primarily from Toronto which is about 1.5 hours away. NOTL is a gem. And so close.  It’s just over the border north of Buffalo, about 3 hours from Corning.
