Kahlua Cake with Chocolate Chips (Missy's recipe)

I had never made Missy's signature kahlua cake recipe until Easter of this year.
Kahlua is a Mexican rum and coffee liqueur which became popular in the 1970's.
It's a box cake recipe with additions like sour cream, chocolate chips and Kahlua.  There are other versions of this recipe.  Some have pudding mix which makes the cake denser.  You could just buy a chocolate pudding mix cake instead of Devil's Food.

These semi-homemade recipes became popular in the 1980's when Bundt cakes became the rage.  A Bundt pan is a fluted cake pan with a funnel opening in the middle, making it a circular decorative cake which bakes more evenly.  It was invented by the owner of NordicWare in the 1950's.  Then, according to my research, popularity surges when a Tunnel of Fudge cake won the Pillsbury Bake-Off contest in 1966.  I remember as a kid when they were a new thing.

It's been so long since I made a Bundt cake that we had to go out and buy one to make this recipe.  I have no idea where our pan went!

Here's the link to her original post in 2012.  Kahlua Chocolate Chip Cake.

Serve with a little whipped cream on the side.
